Blind Leading the Blind
The importance of good leadership - following Christ.
Verse: Matt. 15:1-20, Luke 6:39-40

Setup:
In today's society, corruption and ill productivity are prevalent from business agencies to government action. Causes of such outcomes are often due to unskilled leaders who do not have proper instruction or understanding in their areas of work. In addition those same leaders may have no focused direction.

As Christians, we are warned in God's word to keep watch for evil men's schemes and not to listen to their distracting instruction or imitate their sinful behavior. Rather we are to be leaders ourselves, setting the proper example by obeying God's Word. In this way we will produce profitable ends in our spiritual lives and in our social and business interactions.

Warmup:
Have the students divide into two even groups. One group will have all the members blindfolded. The other group will also have all the members blindfolded, except one, who will be the leader of that group. A blindfolded member will also be chosen from the other group to be its leader. The supervisor will pull both leaders aside and instruct them to lead their respective members to a spot where a hidden treasure is. The supervisor explains to each leader what they're looking for and it's location. When both leaders understand, the race begins from where you are to where the treasure is. The first group to find the treasure wins.

Study:
Matt 15:1-20 - Explain how men with sinful motives are blind and will elad others away from correct behavior.

Luke 6:39-40 - Blind men cannot be lead by other blind men.

Application:
Do you see how this concept of blind men leading blind men can effect the productivity of an organized effort?

Are there ways in which you may see yourself or your friends being lead astray due to improper leadership or the influence of people who are involved in contagious sin?

Reflection:
-How did the Spirit speak to your heart in the area of spiritual leadership?
-Are you leading others to Christ or are you leading them away?
-Let's obey God's Word when we are in situations where we have to choose whom we will serve. Leading other by example will influence them to change their behavior and may cause them to ask you why you live so productively.
