I often think about how being a follower of Jesus is a journey, and adventure. Accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour is something that needs to be taken seriously, with your heart and mind (not just emotionally with warm fuzzies). He's the Force. The song is hopefully a fresh way of viewing faith.
I wrote this song to relieve some pain and frustration I had with those who cheapen the name of Christ with their evangelical, manipulative tactics. We should speak from the heart and not sell Jesus like a product. In the lyrics, I took the role of a person hearing the "message" and responding by saying "hey, you're in my face, back off." I think people reject Christians and the way we judge and force ourselves onto them rather than rejecting Him.
This song is about finally coming to a place where you really don't have to care about what other people think (in a positive sense). Peer pressure has no effect on you. You don't feel the need to compare yourself to others. You have no time for unnecessary opinions. You just care about being truthful to who you are. That's part of freedom in Christ.
Many directions, many thoughts. A transparent attempt at exposing lots of thoughts while keeping my optimism. I'm sure Jesus often had random thoughts while on earth. I do mine in songs.
Jesus is speaking in the verses, I'm speaking the the choruses. It's about having faith in the face of the unknown. It's hard for me to let go of the reigns.
I'm at this place in my life where I want to be open and go beyond the typical "read my bible, pray and go to church." I want that and more. I want to know the way to meet Christ in a tangible, relational, two-way daily lifestyle. I'm seeking to go beyond my own humanity.
Life is more bearable when you have someone on your side. Jesus' first miracle was at a wedding. The lyrics are directly about my fiance. I love her and I'm blessed.
