Praxis: True Friends

True friends will not let anything come in the way of bringing a friend in need to Jesus.

Biblical Reference: Luke 5:17-26

Location Up on a roof

Background / Setup
Get permission to bring group on top of a roof (Possibly the church building). Tell the kids a week in advance that they will be going outside.

Warm-up
Ask questions like: How many of you have friends who aren’t Christians? How many of you would like to see them become Christians? Are you honestly witnessing to there friends?

Study
Pray and ask that God brings unsaved friends to the minds of Group members.
Read the story in Luke 5:17-26. While on the roof, ask what they noticed about this story. The key to this story is not the miracle of Jesus healing the paralytic. We all know Jesus was a great healer. The key is the friendship shown by the men carrying the mat with paralytic on it. They didn’t let anything stand in the way of bringing their friend in need to Jesus.

Application
Ask them to think about their friends who are unsaved. Do they need Jesus? Are you doing all you can to bring them to Jesus?
