Biblical Reference: Proverbs 2:4, Matt 6:21
Location Mall
Background / Setup
Arrange to have your youth meeting at a local
mall.
Arrange with a store owner to spend a few minutes in a jewelry store.
Warm-up
Ask the group to make a list of three things.
The most
valuable thing they can find.
The most beautiful thing they can find.
The
most expensive thing they can find.
Study
Read Matt 6:21
Ask the group about "What
"valuable" things they found. What do they treasure?"
The
Bible tells us that where our treasure is..that is where our heart is. Are our
hearts in the right places?
Read Proverbs 2:4
Ask "How is wisdom a
treasure?"
Application
Ask the group "How we can tell what people
treasure." (Appearance, possessions, etc.)
How valuable is the Lord to
you?
Give the group, each person a copy of "Lord, you are more precious
than silver…" and have them read it silently as they stand at the
jewelry counter.
Reflection
Do people know what we treasure?
Do they know by
being with us?
Do they have to be told?
