Synopsis: No matter where we are or what we are trapped in, we are commanded to be obedient to God. |
TRAPPED!
Location: Jail cell or island
Focus: No matter where we are trapped we are still commanded to be obedient to God.
Bible References: Gal 3:23, a brief mention of the prison epistles and where they were written.
Background/Setup: Make arrangements with a jail for the use of a cell or with a boating company to have you dropped off at a deserted island. Give the youth a sense of no hope.
Warm up: After having them dropped off or locked up, ask them for different solutions for the problem. Have them develop a plan to stay alive if they are truly trapped.
Study: Do you think it was easy for Paul to live such a long time in prison? What do you think he was sentenced for? What does Galatians 3:23 mean? Is the world of today still a prison?
Application: Do you know anyone who even though they are not physically trapped, are trapped in the world today? Does society have its own traps? Is Satan in charge of these traps? Are there any keys to getting out? What was Paul's key to getting out?
Reflection: Are you trapped? What is your key to getting out of traps? Are you as secure as Paul was in Christ? Would you put that much faith in Him?
