Synopsis: Scriptural truths about the eternal lock that God has put on a Christian's salvation. |
Danny sat down across from Bert at the Mexican restaurant. "I'm a school teacher in a Christian school, " said the 21 year old Danny, "but I have no feeling that I am saved anymore. It's not like I've had any grievous sin or any rebelliousness. It's just that - well, I don't know that I can explain it. And please Bert, don't give me any Christian cliches or pat answers. I'm staking my life on this, you know? I need some answers. Is my salvation forever or is it possible to lose it?"
Stop here and read Romans 8:28-39. Look here for one or two points in the
area we have been discussing. Write down one or two thoughts that would tell you
that you could not lose your salvation. Write it in your own
words:

Why has God done this - going so far to save people like us? Remember John 3:16 - "For God so _____________ the world..." It's because of love. Can you fathom that? God loves you. What did you do to deserve it? Nothing, right? Like we read in Ephesians 2, it was by grace and there was nothing we did to impress God into giving us salvation. He made it available to us because He loves us. Let that sink in for a while! Name three things in verses 38 and 39 that have no power to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. ______________ ______________ ______________
Verse 39 "...nor any other creature..." No other creation can take
away what God has given us when we got saved! Would that include Satan?
___________
Would that include a fast-talking atheist?
______________________
Would that even include ourselves getting depressed
and feeling we are unworthy? _________________
We have a powerful, unyielding
salvation because we have a powerful, unyielding God! When He says He will not
change His mind about salvation, He means it.
