Synopsis: Scriptural truths about the eternal lock that God has put on a Christian's salvation. |
When we talk about salvation, the information carries an impact that goes further than physical ramifications; it reaches the soul. That is why it is so important to be able to answer the unsaved person who wants to know about the security of being "saved." It is also why it is so important to give information of security to those who fear their heavenly reward is in a perpetual balance, ready to be yanked.
Yesterday we talked about eternal security and stated that you could not lose this precious gift of salvation. There are people who would rise up and scream, "How dare you claim that we can live the way we want and have no fear of losing our salvation!" But if we let the Bible speak for itself, we see a truth that can not be broken.
Open up your Bible again to Romans 11:29 and write in your own words what this verse says: _________________________
God does not change His mind on His gifts and calling! Well, let's pursue
this a little further. Turn to Ephesians 2:8, 9. Answer these questions:
By
what are we saved? ____________________________________
Who doesn't save us?
_____________________________________
Is it a gift or is it by works?
__________________________________
Okay, so it's a gift. Now tie the truth of Ephesians 2:8 and 9 into Romans
11:29. If salvation is God's gift, and God does not change His mind about the
gifts He has given, then what does that say about the salvation we have in
Christ Jesus?
___________________________________________________
What does John 10:28 have to say about those who have been given eternal life through Jesus Christ?___________________
Now, let's say Stewart was sitting down with you and told you the same things
he told me. Based upon what you have been reading in the Scripture, how would
you answer him?
Tell us what you might
say._____________________________________
Is this eternal life of your doing?
____________
Who is responsible for all this? ______________
Well, then
let me ask you a question: have you ever thanked Him for it. I mean, really
thanked Him for your salvation. Have you ever told the Lord "Thank you for
my home in Heaven which I will go to see one day. Thank you for reserving it for
me and never pulling out the reservation." Have you ever thanked the Lord
for that? If you haven't, then it's time to write out a nice Thank You note. If
you have before, there's nothing like repeating an appreciation.
To close out this devotional, write out a prayer of praise and thankfulness to God the Father for His wonderful gift of salvation which was made possible through His Son Jesus Christ.
