James Moberg Denomination: Calvary Chapel Send Email Send 'Thank-you' |
Synopsis: It’s when things seem unprepared and unsupplied that God will supply your needs. |
It’s when things seem unprepared and unsupplied that God will supply your needs.
Biblical Reference: Luke 9:3-5
Location a road and a destination
Background / Setup
Jesus sent out the 12 disciples on a mission to
preach the Gospel. They were told not to bring anything with them. Usually, the
one who sends people out is responsible for those going out and ensures that
everyone is prepared. Jesus just empowered them and sent them on their way. They
were totally dependent on the one who sent them to see that their needs were
met. What is it like to be totally dependent on someone you won’t see
again until your journeys end?
Warm-up
Organize with a couple adults to be standing between your
current position and your intended destination. Provide them with things to pass
on to you youth to aid in their journey; direction, staff, bag, food,
encouragement, scripture, greetings to other leaders, request help in doing
something, etc..
Study
When they arrive, read Luke 9:3-5.
How did it feel being
sent out without anything?
How long do you think you’d last on a
"real" journey with nothing?
Were you in need of anything during
the journey? What and why?
What needs were met during your journey?
Application
We might not always have everything we need when we set
out on life’s journey and yet if we trust God he will supply our every
need.
Reflection
The next time you feel God calling you, will you wait
until you have everything you need before responding?
In what areas do I need
to step out and trust in God for what I need.
