James Moberg Denomination: Calvary Chapel Send Email Send 'Thank-you' |
Synopsis: We must rely on his guidance to live. |
We must rely on his guidance to live.
Biblical Reference: Mark 9:23, II Chronicles 20:20, Isaiah 7:9
Location Church, School
Background / Setup
Many times we try to figure out what God’s
plan is for us. Sometimes we pray, read the Bible, or try to put the pieces
together. However, it is easy to try to do it on our own instead of letting God
work his place in his perfect way. Seeing with faith instead of ourselves is
what we need to follow God.
Warm-up
Blindfold each person and tell them they are going on a
journey. Lead each person to a different part of the area, spreading them out so
they are not together. Tell them they must find their way back to the room. Tell
them they have five minutes to find the room, and when they return, they need to
line up in order by height.
Study
Mark 9:23 Discuss what Jesus wants us to do to have
faith.
II Chronicles 20:20 Discuss the story behind it or talk about the
power of faith.
Isaiah 7:9 Discuss what happens when we do not rely on faith.
Application
Just as it was hard to find the way back to the room,
it’s hard to live in a world of sin. When we try to do it with our own
eyes instead of God’s we fail. We must see with our faith in Jesus Christ,
and He will lead us in his perfect plan for our lives.
Reflection
Was it hard to find the way without someone there to
help you?
How is being blindfolded similar to being blinded from God?
What
must we do to follow God in faith?
We need to let God be our eyes and our
being. We need to take off the blindfolds and walk with his hand in
ours.
