Productive Promotion of Your Youth Events

by A. Allan Martin

Are you planning exciting events that will inspire and nurture young people? Do you have specific programs on your calendar that you know will make a powerful spiritual and Christian lifestyle impact on youth? If so, why not try a couple of the following ideas:
  • Post an informational message and/or upload an information release about your event in the young adult or teen talk section on CompuServe's Adventist Online Forum. With over 5000 members, the forum is a great place to get the word out! If you have yet to get into the Adventist Online Forum, call 1-800-260-7171 to get connected.
  • Send your event/calendar information one of a variety of electronic magazines, called ezines. Sponsored by the North American Divison Youth/Young Adult Ministries Department, these ezines are regularly distributed to youth workers, young adults and teens across the nation and abroad.
  • If you have a service opportunity {e.g. mission trip, innercity outreach, etc.}, why not contact YouthNet, 1-800-331-2767, and get your event networked in nationally, inviting youth from across the NAD to participate. YouthNet has been initiated specifically for the purpose of giving your service events and mission opportunities wide exposure to youth and young adults. Go ahead and make use of YouthNet!
  • Send your event/calendar information to the SDA PlusLine, 1-800-SDA-PLUS, the information desk service of the NAD. The sole purpose of this service to provide information to callers, and I know that the PlusLine staff appeciate being in the know about youth/young adult ministry events. They are helpful and efficient, quick to refer callers to your ministry for further information.

Being in the know is half the battle of planning a successful youth event. Making full use of today's technologies can put your youth programming on the cutting edge, expanding the positive impact of your ministry
