Background / Setup
Today many people are searching treasure. These
treasure are thought to be found in money, fame, etc. God has a treasure for us.
If we seek and search for the treasure, we will find it. If we don’t look
for it we will never find it.
Warm-up
Hide a treasure in a well hidden place. Send the students
on a treasure hunt. Once the treasure is found, ask them questions of what it
was like to be searching for a treasure. Ask if there should be any difference
between this kind of hunt and a hunt in search of God’s treasure. What do
you think God’s treasure is?
Study
READ Matt 7:7 What does God command us to do? Why will we
find out what we are looking for?
READ Matt 13:44-46Should we be willing to
give everything for God? Do we have to pay physically to obtain the
treasure?
READ Proverbs 2:45How should we look for God’s treasure?
Application
As Christians, we should be in constant search for our
heavenly treasure. As long as we ask for God’s help, we will find the
treasure.
Ask: How will you search for Christ?
How can you show your
search to your friends?
Reflection
Pray for God’s assistance in your life-long search
for treasure in Christ.
