Synopsis: The word of a man is only as good as the man is and lasts about as long as well.
Read the Conditions of Use Statement.

Famous "Lasting" Words
The word of a man is only as good as the man is and lasts about as long as well.
Verse: Is. 40:7-8 & John 1:1-2
Location: Museum/Cemetary

Setup:
"Give me liberty or give me death.", "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country.", etc... Many people live and give their lives for what appear to be good reasons. History books, museums, and headstones are full of intersting quotes, anecdotes, and famous last words. Many phrases/themes are lost through the advent of time, culture, language, etc. Sometimes what someone said is forgotten because of who they were or wehat they were involved with. Sometimes we never forget or are allowed to forget what individuals from the past have done for their future generations.

Warmup:
Visit a museum (or cemetary) or someplace that celebrates the accomplishments of man. Have the youth scramble and attempt to find the most profound statement written by someone.

Study:
-Read Isaiah 4:7-8 and John 1:1-2.
-Was anything you read something you recognize from somewhere else?
-Have you personally known any one person who wrote any of the things you've read?
-How does what was written say about who it was written of?
-How can we know what was written was accurate or true?

Application:
The Bible's Author has never died. Its words are the Words and Life of a Loving God. It's relevant today and 100% true. It's surpassed the decay of time, culture clashes, class distinction and language barriers. It also changes those who read it and causes them to become more like the author.

Reflection:
-What is the Bible saying about how I should conduct myself in the 20th century?
-Is it still accurate and up-to-date?
-Do I take scripture as serious as I should when I realize that it's a completed work and the Author, God, isn't adding anything more to it.
