Job Description

TITLE/POSITION: Director of Youth and Multigenerational Ministries

ACCOUNTABILITY: Senior Minister, Minister of Worship and Spiritual Formation, Staff-Parish Relations Committee, Youth Council

POSITION OBJECTIVES: Work with the staff, Youth Council and volunteers to oversee the administration of the Youth Programs at Hennepin Church and provide for multigenerational ministry experiences that enhance the spiritual life of Hennepin Church through retreats, classes and mission.

QUALIFICATIONS: B.A. Degree, Masters preferred, with appropriate work experience. Certification, Commissioned or Ordination in UMC desirable.

YOUTH MINISTRIES (30 HRS/WEEK)

Develop innovative, youth-focused ministries that provide youth with a safe place to explore their relationship with God, themselves and others and grow in their faith through:
•Sunday School, Sunday evening youth programs, mission trips, retreats, fellowship opportunities, curriculum development and resources.
•Providing for the creation, resourcing and support of music that supports these ministries.
•Invite, train and empower leadership teams to take key roles in these ministry areas.
•Coordinate scheduling and administration of these ministries that works in a collegial way with other ministry areas of the church.
•Work with the Youth Council to coordinate an annual operating budget, requests for foundation grants and planning and implementation of fundraising that supports Youth Ministries.
•Provide consistent communication with youth, parents and the congregation through newsletters and the website.
•Act as an advocate for Youth and their parents in the life of the church.

Work with the Director of Children’s Ministries to co-develop and resource Mid-High Ministry (5th-6th grades) that connects younger Youth to God, themselves and others while providing a bridge from Children’s ministry to Youth Ministry.
•Work collaboratively to coordinate scheduling, development and implementation of the Confirmation Program.

MULTIGENERATIONAL MINISTRIES (10 hrs/week)

Develop a new “multigenerational” ministry which bridges all generations of the church together by:
•multigenerational retreats, learning experiences and mission trips.
•Work with a team of people to create this vision.
•Provide vision, support and resourcing for this emerging ministry.
