Minister of Youth and Music
Job DescriptionThe Minister of Youth and Music shall be an individual that is called into Christian ministry, who is sufficiently equipped to lead in discipling others, lead in worship, and maintain a rapport with both adults and youth. The Minister of Youth and Music must possess organizational and people skills in order to accomplish his/her responsibilities within the congregation. Approximately 70% of the Minister’s time will be devoted to youth, 30% to Music.
Staff Member
1.Cooperate with the Pastor and other staff members in promoting the entire church program.
2.Work with staff and church members in a team approach.
3.Visit those involved in the Youth ministry in times of crisis.
4.Visit active, inactive, and prospective members.
5.Have a personal development plan that includes conferences, seminars, books, magazines, etc. for continued personal growth, both spiritually and in your area of expertise.
6.Develop an annual budget for the designated line items and be responsible for their expenditures.
7.Arrive prepared, prayed up, and in anticipation of what God is going to do.
8.Adjustments may need to be made to this job description due to the dynamics of ministry. Any changes will be discussed and agreed upon before new responsibilities take effect.
9.The Minister of Youth and Music is responsible directly to the Pastor.Youth Ministry
LEADERSHIP
1.Visit Youth on campus at their schools regularly.
2.Attend school and community activities that involve our Youth.
3.The Youth ministry will focus primarily on working with Youth, then Youth workers, and then Youth parents.
PLANNING
1. Work with Youth Committee to develop the details of a balanced spring, summer, and fall calendar with emphasis on discipleship, ministry, worship, evangelism, and fellowship.
2.Coordinate a high energy Wednesday night program that is outreach oriented.
3.Organize a Sunday night program with an emphasis on discipleship, discussion, and transparency.
4.Coordinate and attend mission projects/trip, summer Youth camp and other retreats.
5.Plan and attend fundraising events as needed that are coordinated through the Stewardship Committee and Pastor.
COMMUNICATION
1.Communicate event details in a timely manner to both Youth and their parents.
2.Turn information in for the bulletin, newsletter, and website in a timely manner.Music Ministry
1. Work with the Pastor to plan and implement a weekly blended/contemporary worship service.
2.Encourage and coordinate the gifts and talents of members and guests regarding music ministry.
3.Supervise the care and maintenance of the music library, musical instruments, costumes, materials, and music supplies.
4.Be responsible for the Sound and Media Ministry in the care and maintenance of the sound system and components, training and scheduling people to work the soundboard and/or PowerPoint presentations, recommending additional equipment as needed.
5.Ensure quality, digital recordings of the Sunday morning worship service are made, inform the church secretary when tapes, CD’s, and labels need to be ordered and any requests for tapes or CD’s of the serviceInquiries to:
