
Crossroads United Methodist Church is in search of a full time Student Ministries Director. Crossroads is a 19 year old community serving the Ashburn, VA and greater Loudoun County areas. It is part of the greater Washington DC metro area, about 30 miles from the Capital. The ministry context is one of the fastest growing and wealthiest counties in America. This presents unique challenges bringing the Kingdom of God to life today.This church community takes seriously the call to pursue God through our individual and collective journeys Inward, Together, and Outward. About 600 people attend the worship times on Sunday morning, and there is a Hispanic gathering Saturday nights. The Student Ministry gathers on Sunday nights. Small groups are the discipleship model of Crossroads, and there is a great heart for serving one another that is practiced. The individual spiritual disciplines are a key emphasis for the congregation, and are expected to be authentically practiced by all staff members. There are 20 full and part time staff members.

Position: Student Ministries Director
Purpose: Invite into and develop students (6th through 12th grades) spiritual formation through the training and equipping of adult servants called to serve youth. Ensure practice of youth ministry is relevant in the context of Loudoun County. Students would be equipped to join and give of themselves in a church community upon leaving high school.
Accountability:
Reports to Ministry and Missions Director
Work Hours: Exempt full time position, 40+ hoursRoles and Responsibilities:
•Integrate youth focused teaching and spiritual formation practices within Crossroads overall direction and in concert with overall church plans.
•Develop a leadership team that discerns ministry direction, measures of effectiveness, and short and long term approaches of the ministry.
•Integrate equipping of parents into plans as part of overall Crossroads strategy.
•Establish an annual confirmation experience within overall Crossroads strategy.
•Invest in identifying, training, equipping, and releasing the gifts of adult leaders.
•Develop teams of youth servants to lead and carry out ministry activities where gifts are evident.
•Integrate mission and ministry serving opportunities within the Crossroads strategic initiatives. Create youth specific opportunities as needed.
•Participate in annual budgeting and manage expenses within budget
•Participate effectively in all defined staff meetings
•Other duties as defined.
Authority: Personal character and vision for student ministry within the context of the mission and vision of Crossroads UMC.Requirements: This role requires a commitment to being a covenanted part of the Crossroads community and staff team. There will be strong evidence of a growing disciple of Christ who will support the theology and beliefs of the United Methodist Church and strongly advance the mission, vision, and DNA of the Crossroads community. This leader must evidence a heart for equipping people to their full potential in Christ, and lead through modeling the life we are called to as disciples.
A minimum of three years of relevant experience is required.
