
Camp Quinipet is looking for highly motivated, responsible, Christians to work in a verity of leadership roles this summer. We run both day and weekly overnight camps for children in the tri state area.Chaplin: The Chaplin is responsible for planning and leading the evening vespers service with new material each week. The Chaplin is responsible for helping camp groups plan and lead chapel services. They are also responsible for teaching the curriculum to staff and working with program directors to plan and lead activities. Must have training and experience teaching and working in a progressive Christian organization. Must have the ability to teach God’s universal love for all to all ages and meet children “where they are.” The job runs from June 24 through mid August and includes a week of staff training. $300 per week.
Program directors: overnight program directors for overnight camps are in charge of planning and leading activities for campers as well as overseeing councilors. Program directors are responsible for their camper and councilors for the weeklong sessions. Past leadership experience required preferably in a camp setting. Ropes course facilitating experience a plus. Must be over 18, over 21 preferred. The job runs from June 24 through mid August and includes a week of staff training. $300 per week.
Councilor: councilors are responsible supervising and engaging campers in all camp activities. Responsible for physical safety and emotional well being of each camper in your care. Able to think on your feet and lead games and activities as the situation requires. Councilors rotate between day and overnight camps with campers from 3.5 – 17 years of age. Must be at least 18. The job runs from June 29 through mid August and includes a week of staff training. $220 -$250 per week.Camp Quinipet is located on Shelter Island, New York, which is off the east end of Long Island. The island is accessible only by ferry however we are only two hours from New York City, which can be reach easily by train (and ferry of course). We hire about 50 staff from across the country and around the world. Camp activities include sailing, kayaking, low ropes challenge course, on site rock climbing and environmental programming.
Quinipet is owned and operated by the New York Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. All our programs are Christian based, focusing on God’s universal love for all and the importance of community.
