Youth Ministry Games : Sumo Basketball

Materials: 12 intertubes, helmets, basketballs
Messy Rating: Clean up/Cool down Duration: 20-40 minutes Cost: $100.00

Divide entire group into 4 separate teams. Each round, 3 teams send in defenders and 1 team sends in a shooter. Each player sent in will wear an innertube suit(3 innertubes tied together). The 3 defenders must stay inside the 3-point line and try to knock down the offensive player. The goal of the shooter is to get to any of 3 "x's" that are marked in various places within the 3 pt line. The shooter must carry the basketball on his/her side with it wedged against the innertube. If the ball is knocked loose of the shooter falls down, they must restart. Once the shooter gets to an "x", The defenders must stop and let the shooter shoot the basketball from the spot. The shooter has exactly 1 minute to score as many baskets as possible (each made shot is worth 1000 points. Each round a different teams sends in a shooter. You may play as many rounds as desired. This game can get rough so PLEASE be sure everyone wears a helmet. Our students loved this game!
